Basic Koigu Sock on 2 Circular Needles

2 skeins Koigu

2 size 2 (2.75-3mm) circular needles, 24" long.

Gauge

28 sts and 38 rnds to 4" over St st using size 2 needle

Cuff

Very loosely cast on 56 stitches. Divide the stitches purlwise onto 2 needles with 28 sts on each needle. Join, taking care not to twist stitches on needle. Mark end of rnd. Work in K1, P1 rib for 1". Work in St st(knit every rnd) until piece measures 6" from beg or desired length.

Heel Flap

K28, then work back and forth in rows as foll:

Row 1 Sl 1 (purlwise), p27

Row 2 *Sl 1 (purl-wise), k1; rep from * to end.

Repeat these 2 rows 12 times more , (26 rows total), end with a RS row.

Turn Heel

Row 1 Sl 1, p15, p2tog, p1, turn

Row 2 Sl 1, K5, ssk, k1, turn.

Row 3 S1 1, P6, p2tog, p1, turn

Row 4 Sl 1 , K7, ssk, K1, turn

Row 5 Sl 1, p8, p2tog, p1, turn

Row 6 Sl 1, K9, ssk, k1, turn.

Row 7 Sl 1, P10, p2tog, p1, turn

Row 8  Sl 1, K11, ssk, k1, turn

Row 9 Sl 1, P12, p2tog, p1, turn

Row 10  Sl 1, K13, ssk, k1, turn

Row 11 Sl 1, P14, p2tog, p1, turn

Row 12 Sl 1, K14, ssk- 16 stitches

Instep

With same needle, pick up and knit 13 sts along the side of heel flap (picking up last st in the corner), K28 sts across instep. With first needle pick up and k 13 sts along other side of the heel flap, k to end- 42 sts on first needle, and 28 instep sts on second needle

Knit 1 rnd

Next (dec) rnd Needle 1, K1, ssk, knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. Needle 2 K28

Knit one round

Repeat these 2 rnds 6 times more- 28 sts both needles.

Work even in St st until foot measures 2" than desired length.
